I-751 Application

remove Conditions from Lawful Permanent Residency

Spouses of U.S. Citizens or Lawful Permanent Residents who have been married for less than two years when their Green Card is issued will receive Conditional Green Cards. This is because the government wants to make sure that the Foreign National did not enter into the marriage fraudulently. If you receive a Conditional Lawful Permanent Residency Card, you are required to submit Form I-751, Application to remove Conditions from Lawful Permanent Residency in the 90 days before your Conditional Lawful Permanent Residency Card expires, or risk Immigration consequences.

If you did not submit your Form I-751, or if you are no longer married to your sponsoring Spouse, you should consult with an Immigration Attorney as soon as possible to discuss your options, plan your application, and mitigate your risk.
